Man Utd travel to league rivals Tottenham in the early afternoon kick-off on Sunday, with both sides looking for a valuable win to take them closer to the current leaders of the Premier League.
Utd have had the best possible warm-up for Sundays encounter, having decimated Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 on Wednesday, securing their spot in the Champions League knock out round.
While Spurs also won in Europe midweek, Andre Villas-Boas is under mounting pressure, with last week’s 6-0 defeat to Man City a huge blow. He will be desperate for an upturn in fortunes; and a win against the Champions would go far in pacifying the growing unrest at the Lane.
Possible Man Utd line-up:
With Robin van Persie still a doubt as he continues to recover from a toe injury that has seen him miss the last two Utd matches, Wayne Rooney will once more be tasked with leading the line for the Champions.
Kagawa and Jones both impressed in Germany, while the recently criticised Marouane Fellaini could be offered another chance to shine. Valencia should remain on the right, with Nani in line to reclaim that left side role.
Nemanja Vidic and Rafael are also in contention, having both returned to training midweek.
This could be make or break for Villas-Boas; and I fear that a combination of low confidence, and a lack of creativity will see Utd continue their renaissance and come out on top.
