There were reports in the Guardian a couple of days which claimed that the White Hart Lane club had made the Argentine as their prime candidate to take charge in the summer. Southampton had a superb season in the premier League with Pochettino hogging the limelight for this philosophy on an attack minded style of play backing home grown players at the club.
Spurs have undergone a turbulent campaign this season despite a shopping spree last summer which has seen Andre Villas Boas and Tim Sherwood being shown the door. The London side also failed to secure a Champions League berth finishing sixth in the Premier League standings.
The BBC had earlier reported that Tottenham have ruled out to speak to any managers currently unemployed. Ajax manager Frank De Boer also denied any contacts from Spurs who were reported to be cahsing former Liverpool and current Napoli manager Rafa Benitez with Roberto Mancini also being in the fray.
Skybets though have given a clear indication that Pochettino was the favourite to fill the vacancy at 4/6 with de Boer out to 2/1 and Mancini backed into 12/1.
