Chelsea have agreed to loan the highly talented Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato from Corinthians for the remainder of the season.

The former AC Milan player was linked with a move back to Europe since last summer and he has now finally completed his return to European football.

Pato will aim to impress the Blues especially now that Chelsea have an option of making the move permanent at the end of the season for a fee of £7m.

The Brazilian striker arrived from Sao Paulo earlier this week and was spotted at Heathrow airport.

The 26-year-old will add much-needed goals, pace and flair to the Chelsea attack. The Brazilian is expected to be a backup option for Diego Costa, who has been struggling with injuries this season.

After an injury-plagued spell at Milan, Pato was forced to return to Brazil and the striker has recaptured his prodigious form since then. The Brazilian bagged 26 goals in his last season with Sao Paulo and will be looking to make an instant impact at Stamford Bridge.

Pato expressed his delight after completing the move and said: “I am so happy to sign for Chelsea. It is a dream for me.”

“I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know my new team-mates and cannot wait to play.”

“I thank Chelsea for their support and hope I can repay this faith to the club and its fans.”
