Neymar has enjoyed a great 2015-16 campaign for Barcelona where he scored 24 goals and assisted in further 12 in La Liga. He is an integral part of Luis Enrique’s squad and his partnership with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez is considered as one of the best trios world football has ever witnessed.

The Brazilian is an asset for Barcelona, but serious doubts have surfaced whether the Catalan giants can hold on to their world-class forward with the contract talks not progressing as expected.

The Catalan press has been feeding us this information for a long time that Neymar is close to signing a new deal with Barcelona, which would make him one of the highest-paid players in the world, but as it stands that hasn’t been the case with no deal has been agreed as yet.

The Brazilian’s contract runs out in 2018 and he is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract. This has sparked a wild transfer speculation on his future with heavyweight European clubs setting their sight on signing him.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are most interested in Neymar, as they look for a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has decided to leave the club this summer.

Manchester United were also linked with a move for Neymar last summer and the Red Devils had reportedly lodged a massive €190m bid for the Brazilian. Neymar’s father had also revealed that United did make an approach for his son but they refused the offer.

Neymar’s father has also revealed recently that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez approached him on quite a few occasions over a possible transfer for the player. But Madrid were told every time that Neymar doesn’t want to leave Barcelona and join their rivals.

However, according to recent reports from Brazilian outlet GloboEsporteboth Manchester United and Real Madrid have made a bid for the 24-year-old superstar. The report says that Neymar is willing to discuss a switch to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

It is not hard to guess that Neymar doesn’t have any genuine interest in moving to Madrid, as he should be aware that the move could tarnish his reputation among the Barcelona supporters.

This could also be a ploy from his agent to put pressure on Barcelona and get a lucrative contract deal at the earliest. The Catalan giants are also facing a similar kind of situation with midfielder Sergio Busquets as well.
