Netherlands 2-1 Slovakia – Video Highlights

Netherlands 2-1 Slovakia
2010 FIFA World Cup
28 June 2010

The Netherlands would move into the quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over Slovakia on Monday.

It appeared to be a comfortable 2-0 win for the Dutch until a late penalty would make it close. Despite not getting the clean sheet, the Netherlands were always in control of the match and took the lead in the 18th minute. The goal was from Arjen Robben who took a touch to get space from a defender and scored on a shot just outside the box.

The score would remain 1-0 deep into the second half as Slovakia was able to keep it close. Another Dutch star from the UEFA Champions League, Wesley Sneijder, would score the second goal as he received a pass in the middle of the box and had plenty of time.

The last minute goal for Slovakia was a penalty converted by Robert Vittek who will end the 2010 World Cup with four. The goal proved to be too late and Slovakia couldn’t continue their comeback and the Dutch on to face the winner of the Brazil v Chile match.
