Manchester United manager David Moyes insists there is nothing to panic about at the moment and that he is the right man to turn the fortunes around. The Red Devils will travel to the Stadium of Light to face the bottom placed Sunderland where Moyes could field his team without the talisman duo of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

United have had a stuttering start in the Premier League. They are yet to score from open play in 450 minutes of league football, suffered 3 defeats already in 6 games and are lying in 12th place in the league table. They are now eight points behind league leaders Arsenal, following their last week’s 2-1 shock defeat against West Brom at Old Trafford.

Moyes, who has been backed by Sir Alex Ferguson recently, said the situation is not as bad as many people are pointing it out. He said as quoted in The Guardian:

“It’s a good club – I’m sure they know they have picked the right man for the job. Sir Alex was part of that process as well.”

“We had a disappointing result against West Brom, disappointing performance against Manchester City, so we’ll do everything we can to put that right. It’s not been as bad as many people have made it out to be.

“Obviously our league position isn’t where we want to be but let’s just wait and see where it ends up come the end of the season.”

Moyes admits that United have been handed with a difficult fixture but he is counting on United’s tradition of starting slowly and then returning back strongly in the league. He added:

“Yeah, that’s right, because they’ve tended most years not to get off to a good start. If you look at their history – even on the back of some tours, it’s not always been the best either”

“So from that point of view and with the way the Premier League put the fixtures out it was always going to be a difficult start.”

Moyes could be without either of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, both are doubtful for this tie but he is confident that United have enough players who are capable of scoring goals.
