Personally I think Premier League clubs are way too uptight – everyone should go through the press for their transfer business, like Madrid, Barcelona and now Milan seem to be doing.
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has said that 5 strikers are on Milan’s list of transfer targets – Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal), Didier Drogba (Chelsea), Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham), Samuel Eto’o (Barcelona) and Mario Gomez (Stuttgart), and that ‘any of them would be good’.
At this point Milan would do well to bring in two new strikers, but I’m surprised that they haven’t included David Villa in this list.
Likelihood of these 5 players leaving / playing for Milan?
Adebayor – might leave but a move to Milan is unlikely – he’s still young and therefore a very promising target but if it becomes a financial issue then he could move this summer or the next.
Drogba – almost certain to move, and after reports that Mourinho doesn’t want him at Inter his best bet would be the top two Spanish clubs or Milan.
Berbatov – if a buyer can match Tottenham’s valuation then he’ll definitely go. Most likely destination would be the Premier League, although Milan may move for him if the price becomes more reasonable.
Eto’o – possible departure and would be ideal for Milan but no Champions League football and possible interest from Inter could sway him to the other end of the city.
Gomez – along with Gomis and Benzema one of the young stars to look forward to in Euro 2008, but unless an unbelievable offer came in for him after the championships he’s likely to stay at Stuttgart for another year.
Your pick for who’ll join Milan this summer?
