Italy defender Matteo Darmian has insisted it was an easy decision to join Manchester United in the summer.

The Italy full-back joined the Red Devils in the summer from Torino in July for a reported fee of £12.7m, and has been an ever-present in the Premier League this season.

Darmian, who scored for Italy against Ajerbaijan in the Euro qualifiers last week, is primarily a right-back but has filled in at left-back for United after Luke Shaw was injured.

The 25-year-old reveals that he has no regrets about signing for United and said it was a chance he couldn’t turn down.

“I used to watch the Premier League on television and it was well known that it was perhaps one of the best leagues in the world,” he said as quoted by ESPN.

“So when I got the call from United I didn’t have to think twice about it at all. For me it was a big step in my career and a really big opportunity which I didn’t want to let slip away

“Of course, Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs, not just in England, but the whole world. Because of the history as well, all these factors made it an easy decision for me.”

Paddy McNair could miss two more weeks

Manchester United defender Paddy McNair is expected to be out for at least another two weeks, according to reports. The Norther Ireland defender has returned home from Helsinki after spending three nights in hospital.

The 20-year-old suffered bruised rib and an abdominal injury during Norther Ireland’s 1-1 draw against Finland in the Euro 2016 qualifiers. There were also concerns he might have damaged his liver.

Manchester United are already without Luke Shaw, who is out with a broken leg for the rest of the year, while Argentine defender Marcos Rojo is also doubtful for the trip to Everton.
