Manchester United's big money target to sign deal this weekend

Manchester United summer transfer target Juan Cuadrado is set to extend his contract with Italian Serie A side Fiorentina.

Reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has broken the news that a deal between the player and the Viola is nearing completion.

Di Marzio believes the deal could be completed by the end of this week and Cuadrado is set to extend his stay in Florence by five years.

The deal will make the 2014 World Cup star one of the highest paid members of the team; nearly as much as German striker Mario Gómez.

Manchester United, along with Barcelona were both strongly linked with the 26-year over the summer and expected to continue their interest in the January transfer window.  Any deal would surely be out of the question provided Cuadrado’s contract gets signed before then.

Juan Cuadrado is in his third season at Fiorentina having joined from fellow Serie A side Udinese in 2012.  He also previously spent a season on loan at Lecce.

He scored 11 goals in 32 league appearances for the Italian side last season and then starred at the World Cup with Colombia where he helped his nation reach the quarter-finals before being linked to two of football’s biggest clubs.
