Manchester United Transfer News: Mourinho not ready to sell Matteo Darmian

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the last few weeks.

Apparently, Serie A outfit Inter Milan are interested in his services and have been in talks to secure a January transfer. Calciomercato are reporting that Inter began talks with Manchester United back in summer and those discussions have intensified as of late. The player’s representatives have already given the green light for a January transfer.

The report also adds that Manchester United will not lower their asking price for Darmian. The Italian international is valued at around 20-22 million Euros by the Premier League giants.

However, the price will not be the main issue for Inter Milan. As per Calciomercato, the main obstacle here is José Mourinho. The Portuguese manager still thinks that Darmian can be a useful player and wants him to play for United. Apparently, Mourinho wants him to replace the injured Antonio Valencia as United’s first choice right-back now.

Manchester United have no other option for the right back position. Selling Darmian would weaken their defense. Unless they can find a suitable replacement, Mourinho’s willingness to hold on to the player is completely logical.

Darmian has struggled to get game time under José Mourinho and the right back could finally get his chance now. If he can impress Mourinho, the 26-year-old could still have a future in England.
