Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez who is on loan at Real Madrid has been left out of Mexico squad for Copa America. Reports from the Daily Mail suggest that Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has also left out several other European based players with an eye on the CONCACAF Gold Cup in July.

PSV Eindhoven’s Andres Guardado, Porto players Hector Herrera and Diego Reyes and brothers Giovani Dos Santos and Jonathan Dos Santos of Villareal have also been excluded but are expected to play in the July 7-26 Gold Cup tournament.

It is believed that Miguel Herrera has prioritized the CONCACAF competition as a win would take Mexico for a playoff match against USA for a place at the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia. The South American side believe that they win the Gold Cup than the Cop Ameriac where they have been paired in a tough group with Chile, Ecuador as and Bolivia. Moreover the likes of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia are the firm favourites for the tournament.

Hernandez who is currently on a loan spell at Real Madrid had earlier been told that he doesn’t feature in Louis Van Gaal’s scheme of plans at Manchester United. The 26 year old could thus be sold in the summer transfer window.
