While it certainly comes as a great piece of news, reports from the Independent is certain to dampen the moods of the Old Trafford faithful. The report claims that United’s hopes of offloading Marouane Fellaini to Napoli is off as the Belgian picked up an ankle injury last week which ended the Partenopei’s interest in the 26 year old. The recent developments come after the Naples based outfit signed Dutch midfielder Jonathan De Guzman for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The Telegraph have also reported this morning that should United failed to sign their top priority target Arturo Vidal,  the Chilean who is rated at €60m, the Red Devils will move for two Dutch players. One of them is AC Milan’s Nigel De Jong (€10m) while the other is Ajax’s versatile 24 year old Daley Blind who is rated at €12m. Blind has a huge admirer in Louis Van Gaal and the player’s versatility could see him easily fit into the manager’s 3-5-2 setup at Old Trafford.
