Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has confirmed that he will stay at the club next season.
A managerial change is expected in the summer with Jose Mourinho taking over from Louis Van Gaal and there could be quite a few incomings and outgoings and according to the former Monaco striker, he will be staying put.
Martial has been a major hit at Old Trafford since joining the Premier League giants from Monaco.
During his interview with France Football (via SportWitness), Martial was full of praise for the Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal. He also managed to avoid commenting on the Mourinho rumours, perhaps out of respect for the current manager of the club.
Martial opened up about life in England and revealed how he has become a better player. He also spoke out his improved physical attributes.
He said: “I was conscious I could last ninety minutes every time. At Monaco, I often only played sixty or seventy minutes before being subbed because I was tired. It was the same as a youth; I didn’t work on endurance enough.
“These days, I’m getting better and better. I haven’t changed my approach, I still eat well and sleep well, but my body has gotten used to it through playing games regularly and training harder.”
He also confirmed that he will stay at Manchester United beyond this season.
“Yes, I think so”, he added when asked if he will be at Old Trafford next season.
The 27-year-old is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world right now.
Busquets only signed a new deal with the club 14 months ago and is looking for another pay rise to be on par with some of the other stars at the club.
The Spaniard wants wages of around £200,000-a-week to match Luis Suarez’s Barcelona deal and Manchester United will pounce if Barcelona are unwilling to meet the player’s demands.
Busquets is a world class player and would be a stunning addition to any side in world football. Considering their resources, it would be extremely foolish of Barcelona to let him go at this stage of his career.
The Spanish midfielder still has a good few years left in his peak.
