Manchester United face difficult competition if they are to sign 15-year old Norwegian wonderkid Martin Ødegaard.

Spanish newspaper AS have reported that the Red Devils are joined by German Bundesliga sides Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart in inviting the teenager to train at their facilities.

Martin Ødegaard doesn’t turn 16 until December but is already a regular in Norwegian top flight side Strømsgodset for whom he has three senior goals.

In August he became the youngest ever senior Norway international at 15 years, 253 days when he played at home to the United Arab Emirates.  He has been called up to Norway’s two qualifiers for UEFA Euro 2016 later this month.

AS have quoted his father Hans Erik who says there is serious interest in the player:

“More than 30 major clubs have asked about him. Martin could play in any team in Europe.”

The newspaper also mentions  Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain as other teams interested.

It would appear Martin Ødegaard has a very bright future ahead of him.  Where that future lies remains to be seen.  Keep an eye out for his name in 2015 when he is expected to move to a bigger club.
