Guillermo Varela has dropped down the pecking orders at Manchester United and he is considered surplus to requirements at the club.
Varela has wasted no time in securing his next move and has agreed to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan for the upcoming 2016/17 season.
The German club have moved in quickly as well to agree to a deal for the defender. He is all set to spend the next season on loan with a view to securing a permanent deal. Thus, we can expect, a formal announcement from either of the clubs about Varela’s transfer in the next few days unless another club moves in and scupper the deal.
The Uruguayan right-back joined United in the summer of 2013 from Penarol and made 11 appearances under Louis van Gaal last season. His last appearance came in United’s Europa League exit to Liverpool and hasn’t played for the club since March.
United have enough depth and quality in the right back department with Matteo Darmian, Antonio Valencia and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are all ahead of Varela in the pecking orders at the club.
Varela hasn’t been considered for United’s pre-season training as Mourinho made him available for offers. As it stands, Varela’s career at United is as good as over.
