Manchester United have confirmed their winger Ashley Young has signed a new deal on Friday.

The England international had one year left on his earlier contract and was a key member of Louis van Gaal’s side as the Red Devils finished fourth in the table. The 30-year-old kept British record signing Angel Di Maria on the bench in the second half of last season.

The Argentine international has left Old Trafford and completed his switch to Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday. Following his move to Paris, United has tied down Young’s services by handing him a new contract, which will keep him at United until 2018.

“Ashley Young has signed a new contract at Manchester United which keeps him at the club until at least June 2018 with an option to extend for a further year,” a statement read on United’s official website.

After signing an extension, the former Aston Villa man is looking forward for the new season and has set his sights on making the upcoming campaign a season to remember.

“”I am delighted to have signed a new contract. The spirit and motivation amongst this team is very high and we are all determined to make this a season to remember,” Young explained.

“All I have ever wanted to do is play football and to be able to continue to do that at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family.”

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager is also delighted after tying down Young to a new deal.

“We are delighted that Ashley has signed a new contract. Ashley is a very multi-functional player. He took to the wing-back position with great confidence and flourished on the wing throughout last season. Ashley is always very professional and has a great presence in the dressing room,” Van Gaal explained.
