With pressure mounting on the shoulders of David Moyes like barometer readings on the summer in Indian subcontinent; the Manchester United manager has vowed to turn it around. The Scot recently insisted that he won’t make any panic buy in the summer, but with January transfer window around the corner, even he knows the importance of buying one top-class central midfielder, along with a drastic improvement in results.

The Red Devils continue to get linked with so many top midfielders, ranging from Kevin Strootman to Nemanja Matic, and plenty of ins-and-outs expected in January as well but it seems David Moyes has been taking a keen interest in Atletico Madrid’s rising star Koke to bring him at Old Trafford.

The burgeoning progress of Koke hasn’t gone unnoticed with the German newspaper Bild claiming in October that the Premier League champions are set to go head-to-head with La Liga champions Barcelona for the signing of the 21-year-old, who is often dubbed as the next Xavi.

Some two weeks back, Spanish Newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that  Serie A giants AC Milan have stolen a march on the rivals to sign Koke and that representatives of the club have offered the player a lucrative contract.

Recently, Moyes was spotted watching the player during Atletico’s Champions League clash with Porto in Spain and the former Everton manager will be more than happy with Koke’s performance as the young midfielder bagged a goal for himself in the match.

Koke is valued around £15m and it will be interesting to see to what extent Man United register their interest in one the most technically gifted young midfielders in Europe at the moment.

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a formal bid for St Etienne’s defender Kurt Zouma in the January transfer window.

Kurt-Zouma

The £13m rated defender has been one of the key players for the French club but is currently serving a 10-match domestic ban after his tackle on Thomas Guerbert during a goalless draw with Sochaux last month, leaving his opponent with a broken leg.

Zouma, who will be eligible to play Champions League this season, is also chased by Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester City.

The question remains – is he seen as a long term replacement of club-skipper John Terry or a direct replacement of David Luiz, whose future has come intense speculation recently and is a prime target of Barcelona.
