Despite not playing the opening five matches of the season, Suarez is the leading scorer in the English top flight, and also has the most assists this season.
However, it is not just his goals and assists that make him a special player, as Rodgers believes that Suarez’ passion, hunger and work ethic puts him in the top bracket of players.
Steven Gerrard has also heaped high praise on the Uruguayan, and saying that Suarez is just below the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
“I’ve run out of words to describe him. We’re blessed in this country to have some really top forwards, top, top attacking players,” said Gerrard, as quoted in The Mirror.
“But for me, without being biased, he’s the best. I’ve said it many times, I look at Messi and Ronaldo and, yeah, they’re world class players.”
“But outside of that, you have Ibrahimovic and Luis Suarez, who are pushing those two really close.”
“Performances like this, where he hasn’t scored for four or five games, but he’s getting assists, causing so much problems. He’s relentless. He’s a winner, he’s a killer and we’re lucky to have him.”
Gerrard, now 33, also knows that this is probably his last chance of winning the Premier League; that one trophy that has eluded him throughout his playing career.
