There is “no chance” Martin Skrtel will join Napoli this summer, according to the Liverpool defender’s agent Karol Csonto.

Martin Skrtel

The Slovakian international has been in fine form this season, making 30 Premier League starts, and has scored six goals, including a brace against Arsenal, with Liverpool aiming to win the league title for the first time since 1990.

Towards the end of last season, it seemed like Skrtel’s future at Liverpool was all but over, with reports emerging that the Reds could be willing to send Skrtel on loan to Napoli, with a clause that makes the deal permanent if the 29-year-old remains fit throughout the season.

However, Skrtel has earned the faith of his manager again and has been enjoying his best campaign in Red shirt, since he joined the club in 2008.

“There is no chance of Skrtel going to Napoli,” Csonto, Skrtel’s agent, told ‘Calciomercato.

“His relationship with Rafa Benitez? There is nothing to add about this.

“What I can say is that Martin Skrtel will not go to Napoli. Skrtel will remain at Liverpool.”

Napoli are desperate to sign a new centre-back but witll seemingly have to go elsewhere for defensive reinforcements now. Skrtel has finally established as a key player in the current Liverpool side and manager Brendan Rodgers will certainly want to keep him at Anfield beyond the summer.

Liverpool travel to West Ham on April 13 as the Reds fight to stay on the top of the league. Having won the previous 8 games in the league, the momentum is certainly with them.

What do you think? Will Liverpool best West Ham? Is Skrtel one of the best defenders around? Get involved in the comments below…
