According to reports from the Mirror, Liverpool are set to sign Manchester City midfielder on a free transfer. It is believed that the English International wants to join the Reds instead of Arsenal as he believes that he will get more game time for the Anfield side.

Milner is out of contract with Manchester City at the end of the season and the report states that the player cannot officially decide his future until after next Sunday’s final game. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is a keen admirer of Milner and wants the 29 year old to replace departing captain Steven Gerrard, the latter who is set to join MLS side LA Galaxy in the summer.

It is believed that Liverpool are prepared to offer Milner a contract worth around £100,000-a-week, which will see him as one of the top earners at the club next season. the hard working midfielder is also attracted at the prospect of joining the Merseyside club as he doesn’t want to uproot his young family when he leaves Manchester City.

Milner has also been linked with the Gunners and there have been no talks of a signing a new contract as he has become frustrated at the Etihad side having to play repeatedly out of position.
