Only couple of weeks back, it seemed like Alberto Moreno will become the next big signing for Liverpool, with Spanish press reported that the highly rated Sevilla defender was on his way to Anfield for medical.

However, since then the deal has hit a snag. Liverpool submitted an initial offer of £16m but it was rebuffed. Sevilla are understood to be demanding around £20m, which Liverpool are not willing to pay.

The Reds camp harbours doubt over his market value though the 21-year-old hugely impressed last season for Sevilla.

Sevilla president Jose Castro has revealed that Liverpool must pay the asking price, if they’re serious about landing him.

“It’s true that there is interest from a number of clubs, above all Liverpool, in him, but we haven’t had proper conversations about selling him,” Castro said as quoted by Liverpool Echo.

“Signing any player from this club has a price and we will decide that price. If Alberto Moreno has to stay at the club he will stay but if a club pays the amount we think is big enough for him to leave, he will leave. But there is no pressure.

“We haven’t reached an agreement, but talks haven’t broken down. We’ll wait and see what happens.

“If Liverpool are interested in the player and pay the right amount, he will be sold.”

Liverpool have other targets as well and recently the club has been linked with Argentine left-back Marcos Rojo. According to reports from Portugal, Rojo is keen to join the Anfield club, while Liverpool are prepared to pay €15m to secure his services.
