Despite being relegated, Sean Dyche and Burnley have had a season to remember. The Clarets ended the season on a high with a win away at Villa Park as Danny Ings scored the winning goal in front of the away fans.

Ings has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Liverpool this summer and the English player confirmed that he played his last game for Burnley.

Speaking to BBC, Ings expressed his delight at scoring the winner and claimed that it was his last game for the Clarets.

“It was quite an emotional day for me today. I think everybody knows what’s been going on off the pitch and I wanted to finish my last game here in style.

“I’m just over the moon that I managed to get the winning goal in front of all the fans that travelled.”

Ings has scored 10 goals in the league this season, more than any Liverpool striker has managed. The Burnley man is a free agent in the summer and his fee will be decided through a tribunal.

According to recent reports, Liverpool are thought to be leading the chase and are willing to pay up to 7 million for the young striker.

While it is unclear as to how serious the interest from Manchester United is, it is beyond doubt that the Red Devils will have a clear edge due to the offer of Champions League football.

Further, the uncertainty regarding Brendan Rodgers’ future, the man who wants Danny Ings, might convince the striker to sign for another club.

Having said that, Ings is still a very young player and will need to choose a club where he can play week in week out and continue to develop. In which case, Manchester United might not be the best option for him.
