Liverpool fought their way to yet another classic win at Anfield as goals from Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho gave them a 2-1 win over Champions, Manchester City.

The home started the game impressively pressing high up the pitch and carved out couple of chances within the first 10 minutes. Captain, Jordan Henderson gave the Reds their lead when he scored a stunner from about 20 yards.

The Champions leveled after an intelligent link up play from Silva and Aguero. Dzeko scored midway through the first half after he was played through by Aguero. Joe Allen and Philippe Coutinho produced another masterclass as the duo marshaled the midfield and pulled the strings for the home-side all game.

A second half stunner from Coutinho put the reds back in front again. Daniel Sturridge who came on as a late substitute had the chance to seal the game but missed the target late in the game.

Despite both teams being evenly matched for most of the game, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be delighted to get the all important three points thanks to two wonder goals from their midfielders, Henderson and Coutinho.

The Reds move into 5th place in the table, level on points with Arsenal and 2 points behind third placed Manchester United. Meanwhile, City continue to slip further away from league leaders Chelsea who are now 5 points clear at the top.
