It has left the Serie A club in a bit of turmoil at the moment. They have hoped to keep hold of their prized assets, but now with no European football to offer, Lazio might have to sell two of their star players – Lucas Biglia and Felipe Anderson – both being linked with a move to Manchester United.
United are looking to bolster their attacking areas having lost Robin van Persie, Nani and Angel di Maria in the summer. The club have been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Pedro Rodriguez (who joined Chelsea), Thomas Muller (from Bayern Munich) and Kevin de Bruyne (all set to join Manchester City). There were reported interest in Barcelona forward Neymar but that was never going to happen any time soon.
Italian media also believe that United are seemingly interested in Lazio’s defensive midfielder Lucas Biglia, who could cost around €40m.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier this month that United had already lodged a €25m bid for Biglia, but Lazio are holding out at €40m.
Lazio are looking to replace the duo, as they understand, the club would be powerless, if any big European club come up with loads of cash.
According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio are willing to sign Arsenal striker Joel Campbell, while they still retain an interest in Liverpool’s Fabio Borini.
