According to reports from the Liverpool Echo, Kolo Toure is set for a one year contract extension at Liverpool. The veteran defender was expected to leave the Anfield side when his current deal expires next month but it now appears that the 34 year old will be handed a one year extension.

Toure believes that his contract situation will be resolved soon. The centre back said, “Liverpool is a great club for me to stay at. I love Premier League football and I played all my years here. And if I can finish here it would be great.”

My kids go to school here and they are half-English, and that is important as well. I play for Liverpool right now, and I am very happy. If it was to carry on, I’d be more than happy.”

Despite Liverpool’s consistent shortcomings in the back four, Toure has featured in just 15 appearances this season. Manager Brendan Rodgers has failed to organize a settled defense depite playing three at the back in his preferred 3-4-3 setup.

Toure’s presence in the team next season will not guarantee the player a starting eleven spot for the player but we reckon Rodgers is in favour of the defender staying in Merseyside thanks to experience and positive effect on the dressing room.
