The England coach Fabio Capello is on the lookout for the latest setback according to the physical discomforts suffered by striker Wayne Rooney in the final stretch of the match between Manchester United and Stoke City in a Premier League game.
A few days before the start of World Cup South Africa 2010, the Italian coach has had a series of upsets in terms of players’ injuries, one aspect to consider if you’re thinking in doing some World Cup bets.
United coach Alex Ferguson informed that Rooney suffered a groin injury during the Machester’s match and began doubts as to whether or not he will play in the debut game against the United States. However, Ferguson said that the Manchester star will arrive in perfect condition to South Africa.
The possible absence of Rooney in the England team means a major concern, both for the coach and for fans, and based on the good moment for which the Man United player is going through, you could also say that Rooney is the biggest hope for Capello‘s team.
Without any doubts Rooney’s injury report has caused concerns in the English football world, which had feared the striker’s absence at the next World Cup because of an ankle injury that he got in the quarter-final of Champions League against Bayern Munich.
However, Capello included Rooney in the provisional list of England from which will be chosen the 23 players that will travel to South Africa and is expected that Rooney be one of those.
Another major injury for England is the one of Gareth Barry, Manchester City midfielder who was injured in the match against Tottenham. Barry suffered a ligament injury in his ankle which means he will miss the friendlies against Mexico and Japan.
Despite the injury, Gareth was also called by the coach of the England team but will not travel with the rest of the team to the training in Irdning Austria to continue in England with the recovery of his injured ankle.
Finally, the worry takes over England and probably regains their peace when they see the Manchester United forward among the eleven players who will come to the field on June 12th for the debut against the United States, same with midfielder Barry.
