Glasgow Rangers are weighing up a move to bring former Liverpool right-back Jon Flanagan to Ibrox in the summer transfer window.

According to reports from The Scottish Sun, the Gers could be set to move for Flanagan who was released by Liverpool last month after eight years at Anfield.

The 25-year-old made his senior debut for Liverpool in 2010 after graduating from the club’s academy. He was thought to be an exciting prospect, but a series of injuries, subsequent loss of form and a troubled personal life saw him getting out of the Liverpool picture.

He spent loan moves at Burnley and Bolton Wanderers but failed to make best use of the opportunities.

Steven Gerrard, the Rangers boss, has played with him, and he is a “huge admirer” of Flanagan.

Although Flanagan has lost his way in recent years, Gerrard probably believes he can resurrect his career at Ibrox. Flanagan has age on his side, and he has the required quality to step up at Rangers.
