Serbia would get a crucial win in Group D over Germany on Friday afternoon at Port Elizabeth.

The match was scoreless until a foul by Germany’s Miroslav Klose would alter the momentum of the match. Klose would get booked for his second yellow card in the 36th minute to received a red card. It would put Germany to 10 men for the rest of the match and proved to be significant.

Serbia would take advantage only a few minutes later as a cross was sent in the box and scored by Milan Jovanovic in the 38th minute. They would never relinquish the lead. Germany did come close in the second half as a handball was called on Nemanja Vidic in the box. It was a penalty kick for Germany in the 60th minute. Lukas Podolski stepped up to take the penalty but it was saved by Serbian goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic.

The result now puts Group D up for grabs as Serbia and Germany are tied with three points and the other two teams (Australia and Ghana) have yet to play their second match.
