There is no doubt that Liverpool are in search of a quality goalkeeper in the upcoming January transfer window. Manager Brendan Rodgers has grown tired over Simon Mignolet’s mistakes in ever game and is desperate to sign a shot stopper who can challenge the Belgian for the number one spot.
The Merseyside outfit were linked with Fiorentina star Neto but the Brazilian is now set to sign a new contract soon with the Florence based outfit. FC Koln’s Timo Horn also ruled out a move to the Reds claiming he is happy at the German side.
Genoa’s Mattia Perin who has drawn comparisons with Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon at such a young age is another goalkeeper Liverpool are keeping tabs on. Genoa however value their prized asset at €20m as we had earlier reported and there is very little chance that the Reds will spend such a figure for a goalkeeper after their enormous spending in the summer.
However the trusted and reliable Italian Media Outlet TMW have cited Il Corriere Mercantile that Perin has a soft spot for Liverpool. The 21 year old was quoted by the papers as “Perin likes the Reds”.
Perin has been in fantastic form this season for Genoa, the Italian side who are third in the Serie A standings with 26 points from 14 games so far. European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Nouveau Riche French side Monaco are also interested in the player but Genoa are desperate to keep hold of their prized asset. Genoa are also baffled by the recent developments and are afraid of losing their young star.
