Gallas Signing Will Spur Tottenham On

Like him or not, William Gallas is a terrific defender.

Most importantly for Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, Gallas will not be exploited in the pathetic manner in which Sebastien Bassong and Michael Dawson were by the Young Boys’ forwards.

Gallas brings with him to White Hart Lane a wealth of experience, as he has played at the highest level.

Not only has he played for two great London clubs already in his career, but the France defender has also come across the hype that comes with UEFA Champions League encounters.

He also has the vital international experience that gives him the edge over the starting pair in the Champions League qualifier.

And though he is not in his peak years and could be going downhill at age 33, Gallas has the positioning and marking abilities that make him a solid defender.

With Jonathan Woodgate still sidelined and Ledley King’s knee injury continuously troubling the England defender’s career, Gallas can be a major figure in the Spurs’ defense.

Already Gallas is tipped to enter the list of nominees for “Best Coup” at the end of the season.

Plus, Tottenham fans have wanted to get one back at Arsenal ever since Sol Campbell left their club and signed with the Gunners in 2001.  Campbell angered Spurs’ fans, as he went on to become a big success at Arsenal.

Will Gallas be the new Campbell?
