Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is expected to leave the club this month.

The French international is not a part of Jurgen Klopp‘s first team plans anymore. Sakho angered the Liverpool manager with his unprofessional attitude during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States and has not played a single game since then.

Sakho’s Liverpool career took a hit when he was wrongly banned for doping towards the end of last season and the former PSG captain is looking for a fresh start away from Anfield.

The likes of Galatasaray and Southampton have been linked with the Liverpool fan favourite and the Reds are open to selling the player permanently.

According to Güneş Gazetesi, Galatasaray officials are flying out to England in order to discuss Sakho’s transfer with Liverpool. They also plan to convince the player to come to Turkey this month.

Liverpool value the 26-year-old around £20m and it is safe to assume that the Turkish club cannot afford to pay that much. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to accept a cut-price deal for the out of favour defender in order to get rid of him for good this season.

There is no doubt that Sakho is a top quality defender and is good enough to start for most teams in the top five European leagues. However, he has not played in the last six months and therefore his value has dropped.

Furthermore, all the buying clubs will be aware of the fact that Sakho is unwanted at Liverpool and thus the pressure is on the Reds here.
