France squad post-World Cup debacle

New France coach Laurent Blanc on Thursday named a 22-man squad for the friendly against Norway in Oslo on Aug. 11. The squad does not include any members of the World Cup 2010 France squad, all of whom were suspended by Blanc after their collective decision to protest against the French FA.

While some of those players are unlikely to return to the fold (retirements, old age / unsuitability for the 2014 World Cup), we should see some of those players return before the qualifying process starts for Euro 2012.

Goalkeepers: Nicolas Douchez, Stephane Ruffier
Defence: Aly Cissokho, Mathieu Debuchy, Rod Fanni, Philippe Mexes, Adil Rami, Mamadou Sakho, Benoit Tremoulinas.
Midfielders: Yohan Cabaye, Lassana Diara, Blaise Matuidi, Yann Mvila, Samir Nasri, Charles N’Zogbia, Moussa Sissoko.
Forwards: Hatem Ben Arfa, Karim Benzema, Jimmy Briand, Guillaume Hoarau, Jeremy Menez, Loic Remy.
