Liverpool have confirmed that Luis Suarez will be leaving the club to join Barcelona in the summer after a transfer agreement was reached which is thought to be in the region of £75m, although neither clubs have disclosed the amount.

Barcelona are about to sign a world class player, who scored 31 league goals last season and was rightly adjudged the PFA Player of the Year. However, the Blaugrana fans will have to wait for sometime before getting to see their new signing in action, as Suarez is serving a four month footballing ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini in the 2014 World Cup. Here we take a look at five things he cannot do at Barcelona during the FIFA ban.

Suarez will miss matches, lots of matches

The ban doesn’t allow Suarez to play for four months. He will not only miss at least 9-10 La Liga games but a handful of Champions League matches as well. Although Suarez’ representatives/lawyers will be trying their best to convince FIFA to reduce the length of the ban, but having seen FIFA already refusing to change their stance from the original decision, it’s hard to see the situation changing drastically in the space of next few months.

Scrap that, he can’t even train

The worst part of this ban is Suarez cannot even train with his team mates. For any player moving to a different club, it is so important to get accustomed to the new system, surroundings and new team mates, in order to settle down quickly; that won’t be the case with Luis Suarez at Barcelona.

He can’t even watch his new team perform in the Nou Camp!

That’s the price you pay for committing a heinous crime like bitting someone, not once but three times in your career! He won’t be allowed to step a foot in any stadium, which means he’ll have to contend himself with watching games on TV.

No official photo with Lionel Messi & Neymar

He is not allowed to be a part of the club’s pre season team photo during his ban, which means he cannot officially be included in the squad picture for the upcoming season, unless some comprises are made later on.

No promotional activity

Barcelona is a global brand with a huge fan base. It has become a norm for all the top clubs to promote the club’s merchandise through their star players. As a result of the ban, not only Suarez will be excluded from the club photo-shoot activities but he cannot do merchandising and other promotional activities as well.
