Sevilla football club has confirmed that they have agreed to sign Liverpool striker Iago Aspas on a season long loan, via the club’s official website.

The player will now undergo a medical while other paper works will be completed tomorrow. Sevilla will have the option of singing him permanently next season.

Earlier in the morning, we reported that Aspas has already agreed personal terms with Sevilla. The  Spaniard, who struggled badly last season (failed to adjust to the pace of the league plus injuries didn’t help him either), was keen to revive his career and even prepared to take a pay-cut to move away from Anfield.

Sevilla coach Unai Emery said about Aspas: “He’s a player who exploded at Celta and then made the step up the the Premier League.

But he didn’t have a chance to play regularly there. We are aware of his characteristics/qualities; Aspas can play in the wings or behind the striker. He fits the type of player we’re looking for but the negotiations with Liverpool aren’t easy. He’d be a great addition if he comes.”

Local Sevilla based newspaper Estadio Deportivo reports that representatives from Liverpool flew to Sevilla to hold talks on this matter and after prolonged discussion the deal has been agreed. Sevilla, if they sign Aspas next season on a permanent basis, will have to pay around €6m.
