Chelsea have had a £27 million bid rejected for the Atalanta midfielder, Franck Kessie.

According to Daily Star, Chelsea wanted to offer £21m upfront and the rest in add-ons for the Ivory Coast midfielder.

Kessie has been linked with several Premier League clubs including Manchester United over the last few weeks, but the Serie A outfit remains adamant that the player is not for sale this season. A few weeks ago, Kessie’s agent confirmed Chelsea’s interest in his client and also revealed that the likes of Manchester United are targeting the highly talented midfielder.

Daily Star‘s report claims that Chelsea are desperate to sign him even if it means that they will have to loan him back to Atalanta for the remainder of this season. Furthermore, the report also adds that Chelsea have held extensive talks with the player’s agent and believe that a deal can be done. Also, the player is keen on a move but will not submit a transfer request.

The 20-year-old is considered as one of the finest young players in Europe right now and has already drawn comparisons with the likes of Yaya Toure because of his playing style. The Ivorian is a powerful box-to-box midfielder who can create, as well as score goals. Kessie has scored 7 goals for Atalanta so far.
