Chelsea settle for €16m permanent transfer active after 2016

In the past few seasons we have seen players who go out of Chelsea on loan, usually never return to play for the first team again. Usually.

It is therefore safe to assume that Mohamed Salah’s Chelsea career is almost as good as over. The Egyptian winger was sent on loan to Fiorentina in a deal that saw Juan Cuadrado joining the Stamford Bridge outfit on a mega deal in January.

Salah struggled to get into the first team at Chelsea and managed only 30 mins of Premier League action for the Blues.

However, upon joining the Serie A giants, he has already scored couple of goals in the league and scored the winner for the Viola in the Europa League to knock out Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was asked to comment on Salah’s future in the press conference ahead of the League Cup final against Spurs. He said:

Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea have an agreement with Fiorentina, where the Viola can extend Salah’s loan for one more year by paying €1m, and after that can sign him for €16m, which will be his buy-out clause. However that clause will be active only on/after 2016.
