The summer transfer window may be over but the rumour mill is omnipresent. Despite domestic leagues and European competitions in full flow there are lot to speculate if we are to anticipate the ‘fast approaching’ January transfer market.

We bring you a roundup of all the latest transfer stories including Chelsea’s imminent announcement of a free and agreed terms with a Brazilian midfielder. Also on our plate is how Real Madrid have joined Barcelona in the race to sign a Liverpool midfielder.

Chelsea to announce signing of Marco Amelia later today:

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea are set to officially announce the signing of former AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia on a free transfer later today.

The report states that Amelio and his agent Federico Pastorello had dinner in London on Wednesday evening to celebrate the Italian’s move to London which is expected to resurrect his fading career. The 33 year old played for Italian amateur club Rocca Priora, and later with Serie B club Perugia last season and was also a part of Italy’s 2006 World Cup-winning squad.

With Thibaut Courtois ruled out of action till January, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho feels that an injury to Asmir Begovic would potentially end the Blues’ current campaign. Amelia thus will provide a vital backup for Begovic for the Blues.

Pastorello posted a picture earlier on Instagram yesterday which confirmed his client’s move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea set to announce new four-year deal for Ramires:

The London Evening Standard has reported that Chelsea are set to announce a four year deal for Brazilian midfielder Ramires with his wages worth more than £70,000-a-week.

The 28 year old’s current contract with the Stamford Bridge side is set to expire in 2017 but it is believed that manager Jose Mourinho was desperate to secure the services of the player on a long term contract. Italian giants Juventus were interested in Ramires as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba who could be expected to leave the Bianconeri next summer.

Manchester City join Barcelona in the race for Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho:

Reports from the Daily Mirror claim that Manchester City are plotting a move for Liverpool midfielder Philipp Coutinho. Barcelona are also interested in the player while Real Madrid could also move for the Brazilian.

The 23-year-old’s agent however denied any talks over a potential move away from Liverpool in the near future. Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian said (as quoted by Daily Express), “Philippe is extremely happy at Liverpool.”

He signed a new long term contract towards the end of last season that represents his ambition and his feeling for Liverpool. Reports that I have been talking to Real Madrid about Philippe are not true.”

And finally, the Daily Star claims that Spanish side Valencia have joined Manchester United and Arsenal in the race for Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia. Earlier we had reported that Chelsea are also interested in the Argentine.

The 29 year old has rejected a new contract at the club in early September and he could now leave in the near future.
