Chelsea and Manchester United’s hope of signing Raphael Varane have been dashed after the defender revealed that he remains committed to Real Madrid.

The French international has seen his first team appearances have been limited this season, which had raised concern over his long-term future at the Spanish capital club. This has seen him attract interest from long-term admirers, the Blues and the Red Devils.

Real are already knocked out of the Copa del Rey by their derby rivals Atletico Madrid. The La Liga giants now have the Champions League to defend and also have a chance to win the league this season.

Varane admitted that he is 100% with the 10-times European champions and has set his eyes on winning the Champions League and the La Liga.

“My future? I’m 100% with Real Madrid and we will continue to work with the club. I am happy here and I have a contract until 2020,” Le 10 Sport quoted Varane as saying.

“The goal this season is to win the league and the Champions League . These are two important goals for us. We want to win everything. There are a lot of determination and motivation in the locker room.”

Meanwhile, Real manager Carlo Ancelotti has also come forward and rubbished the speculations suggesting that Varane will leave his current employers.

“I’m surprised because I didn’t know Mendes [the agent cited in the rumours] was his agent. Three days ago he had a different agent. Varane will be a Madrid player for a long time,” Ancelotti said, as quoted as saying by Spanish newspaper AS.

The Frenchman was set to be a long-term replacement for John Terry at Stamford Bridge. With Varane and his manager clearly suggesting that the centre-half is not for sale, both Chelsea and United have to look elsewhere in the transfer market.

Louis van Gaal has set his sights on Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels, who is also on Arsenal’s radar. The German international has long been a transfer target for the Red Devils and a summer move could be on the cards, with the Old Trafford club leading the chance for his signature.
