Jose Mourinho has received a full vote of confidence from Chelsea despite their slow start to the 2015-16 season.

Poor results and controversy off the pitch has seen the Portuguese manager be under an increased amount of pressure in their pursuit of a successful title defence.

Chelsea are 16th in the Premier League table with eight points from a possible twenty-four as their chances of a successful title defence slips away with every defeat.

Off the back of the Blues’ 3-1 defeat to Southampton at Stamford Bridge last weekend, Mourinho said he would walk away from the club if the playing squad no longer trusted him to lead the club.

However, any speculation of Mourinho leaving Stamford Bridge ha been quashed in an official statement that was released by the club.

The statement that was posted on Chelsea’s website read , “The club wants to make it clear that Jose continues to have our full support. As Jose has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team’s performances must improve. However, we believe that we have the right manager to turn this season around and that he has the squad with which to do it.”

This vote of confidence comes on after a weekend that has seen two Premier League managers lose their jobs. Sunderland parted ways with Dick Advocaat and Liverpool relieved Brendan Rodgers of his duties after the Reds’ 1-1 draw to Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Mourinho may still be Chelsea manager, but the former Real Madrid manager will need to turn results around sooner. With every point dropped by the west London club, their title competitors Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal continue to create space between themselves and the defending champions.
