Chelsea legend may leave Stamford Bridge in summer

Chelsea legend Petr Cech might leave Stamford Bridge next season with Jose Mourinho willing to replace the Czech by Belgian young keeper Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan to Atletico Mdarid.

Cech suffered a shoulder injury in the first leg of the semi final against Atletico and despite missing the last four games of the season won the Golden Glove alongside Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny with 16 clean sheets to his credit.

However Chelsea’s transfer policy of dealing with players who are above 30 could be a potential road block as Mourinho looking eager to bring back Courtois to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

With Financial Fair Play well into action, Chelsea would look to offoad Cech for around £10m, in turn saving £100,000 a week on his wages, before offering Courtois a five-year contract worth around £70,000 a week.

There are stories doing rounds that the back room staff at Chelsea who are split on the issue but Mourinho wants to avoid yet another embarrassing situation if Atletico face Chelsea yet again in Europe next campaign.

The 22 year old Courtois has been in superb form for Diego Simeone’s side who could now win a cup double if they even draw against Barcelona in the final game of the La Liga and also face city rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League final at Lisbon later this month.
