The summer transfer window may be over but the rumour mill is omnipresent. Despite domestic leagues and European competitions in full flow there are lot to speculate if we are to anticipate the ‘fast approaching’ January transfer market.

We bring you a roundup of all the latest transfer stories including Chelsea’s constant contact with a French midfielder’s agent. The Blues are also interested in a long term Arsenal target while Liverpool had eyed a German winger in the summer.

Chelsea in contact with Giannelli Imbula’s agent

The Metro have quoted French publication L’Equipe claiming that Chelsea have been in constant contact with Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula’s father who also happened to be his agent.

The report states that Chelsea were interested in the Frenchman over the summer transfer window but the 23 year old joined Porto in a £14.7m deal. Imbula was a prominent figure under Marcelo Bielsa at Marseille last season but has failed to settle in Portugal and thus could move in the near future.

Imbula is a naturally gifted defensive midfielder, who with his wide passing range can help any side to create chances from the deep. Imbula played significantly well for Porto on Tuesday night as they beat Chelsea by 2-1 in the Champions League. Jose Mourinho’s side are currently devoid of ideas in midfield and would do well if they sign Imbula, who will definitely strengthen the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Chelsea have also entered the race to sign Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho as per TMW from Italy. The highly-rated defensive midfielder has also been targeted by Arsenal, Liverpool and Paris St Germain.

Napoli manager admits Lorenzo Insigne could leave for Chelsea:

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted (as per Metro) that Lorenzo Insigne could leave the club for Chelsea in the near future.

Insigne has enjoyed a terrific start and set the tone for Napoli to beat Juventus last weekend with a stunning strike. Sarri has admitted, “Insigne? There is one who could quickly find themselves at Paris St-Germain or Chelsea.”

We had reported earlier that Insigne’s agent has revealed that he has received transfer offers for his client from several teams from around Europe. Arsenal have also been interested in the player since last season but Napoli’s stance on the 24 year old has been firm.

The Partenopei had rejected a €20m offer form the Gunners last term with club President Aurelio De Laurentiis laughing off the claims saying, “Arsenal offers 20 million for Insigne? This makes me laugh. I want to make Insigne rise to a value of 60-70million.”

Italian clubs are hard to deal with. Yes, we all know that.

Liverpool interested in German winger Leroy Sane:

As per Daily Mail, Schalke director Horst Heldt has said that Liverpool were interested in Leroy Sane but the young German had no interest in moving to Merseyside.

Sane is regarded as a highly rated prospect in Germany and the 19 year old teenager has attracted attention from several clubs across Europe. With pace o burn and trickery to bamboozle opposition defenders, Sane is a menace on the wing. He also signed a new two-year contract extension until 2019 in July which rules out any possible transfer in the near future.

And Finally…

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted that he would love to play under Arsene Wenger one day. The Belgian who moved to Everton in a £28m deal from Chelsea in 2014 says he’d like to ply his trade for one of the Premier League’s big-boys in the future.

This is according to the Daily Star who have quoted the player’s interview with Belgian magazine Le Vif. When asked who are the world’s top coaches he would love to play for, the 22 year old said, “Mourinho is one. (Pep) Guardiola and Wenger.”
