Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas does not believe that Cristiano Ronaldo has been exactly impressive during the World Cup so far.

The Portugal captain is currently joint top scorer on the goals chart in Russia as he has so far scored 4 goals- tied with Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku.

Ronaldo opened his account for this tournament by scoring a hat-rick during Portugal’s pulsating 3-3 draw against Spain which also featured a brace from Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

He followed up his hat-rick with the only goal of the game as Portugal went on to gain a 1-0 win over Morocco last week.

They play Iran in their final group game on Monday night and are likely to qualify for the last 16.

Many feel that Ronaldo has been the best player in Russia so far and it can also be argued that the Real Madrid man has been virtually been playing for Portugal himself as he has scored all of his countries goals so far.

Fabregas who is working as a pundit after missing out on selection for the Spain squad however does not believe that Ronaldo has been exactly impressive.

He said: “Yes, he is playing well, but if you really look at what he has done, he has scored one penalty, one free-kick, one goal from a corner and one with a shot that David de Gea should have saved.

“You cannot say that he and Portugal have shown great combinations or tiki-taka football to score great goals.

“You have to give him credit, of course, but his goals have come from set-pieces, penalties or mistakes.”
