So, it’s happening. Former Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas is almost certain to join Chelsea. Leaving aside various media reports, the sheer fact that Chelsea players and the manager has come out and spoken about him, suggests the deal is close to fruition.

Only yesterday, Spanish striker Fernando Torres had admitted that Fabregas will be a top signing for the Blues, as he believes Chelsea lack a player of his calibre.

Big players are always good signings. We know Cesc, he knows the division and was always among the top players when he was at Arsenal,” Torres said in an exclusive interview to Movistar.

“He likes to play good football and will offer ball control, cutting edge, goals… If he’s made to feel important, like a leader – like when he was at Arsenal – he can drive the team on and he’s a type of player Chelsea don’t have right now,” he added, as quoted by Marca.

Now, fellow Chelsea defender, Cesar Azpilicueta has come out and gave his opinion about the world class midfielder, which echoes on the same line of Torres.

“We don’t have a player with Cesc’s profile at Chelsea. He’s a special player, the likes of which not many teams have; he has great vision and scoring ability too. The numbers are there, the goals he scores, the different positions he can adapt to,” he said as quoted by Catalan newspaper Sport

If the reports are to be believed, Chelsea have already sealed the midfield for £30m. Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has already left the club and Fabregas is expected to fill his big boots.

Fabregas’ preferred choice was Arsenal, after he was told that he has no future at Barcelona, but the Gunners have refused to exercise the buy-back option.
