Communications director Markus Hörwick, revealed that Lahm has fractured his ankle and will be out for a lengthy spell of three months. Not a lot has been revealed about the injury so far, but team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfarth expects the German stalwart to be out for at least twelve weeks.

Reports in the German media indicated a possible injury to Lahm. The German based media outlet, Bild,  reported that the Bayern Munich defender stayed on the ground for a few minutes with an injury and cried out with agony while covering his eyes with his hands. Teammates nearby also looked shocked during the event as the former German International was carried out of training in a golf cart and was later seen entering the clinic on crutches.

The World Cup winner retired from International football recently and has been a key player for his club.
