Arda Turan joined Barcelona last summer but due to transfer ban imposed on the Catalan club, he couldn’t make his debut until January 2016.
The Turkey superstar enjoyed four great years with Atletico Madrid and won the La Liga and Copa del Rey with the Rojiblancos before moving to Barcelona. He was never going to be a regular starter, as it is hard to imagine any player to dislodge either of Neymar, Suarez and Messi from the starting role.
In Turan’s case, the frustrating part is, he has failed to make an impact even from the bench. For a player of his calibre, a lot more is expected from him. Well, of course, it was his first season and he didn’t enjoy a good pre-season, and things can change in the second year. That is, if at all, he stays for another year at the club.
His future has come under speculation at the club after Barcelona have signed Denis Suarez earlier this month and there are suggestions that he could be heading to the Premier League.
“I have one more year to go with Arsenal and I have been with them for a long time. I have always respected all my contacts [throughout my career] and will continue to do that. What will I do after that? Honestly, I don’t know.”
