Arsenal could make a move for Manchester City’s striker Edin Dzeko in the January transfer window, as reported by The Mirror. The Gunners desperately need a striker in January, to ease off the burden from the shoulders of Olivier Giroud, who is serving as a lone striker at the North London club.

Arsene Wenger has always stated that he would only go for any player that could improve the squad to good effect. At the same time, what sort of strikers should be looking at? Should he go for a supporting striker for Giroud or purchase a marquee player who can really help in challenging for the title? Let us take a look at 10 such options available in the market for Wenger.

Edin Dzeko: The Bosnian is frustrated with lack of playing time at Manchester City and even hinted of a possible move. A class player in his own right, having Premier League and European experience under belt – Arsenal really should try for him. Money is not a problem for the Gunners anymore.

Demba Ba: Arsenal targeted Ba in the summer and should make a move for him again. The Senegal star will add quality to the side but most importantly can play as second fiddle to Giroud.

Fernando Llorente: The 28-year-old recently admitted that it was tough for him to settle properly at Juventus in the beginning following his move from Athletic Bilbao, but after scoring few important goals recently, he feels that he is slowly settling down. However that doesn’t stop him from getting constantly linked with top club including Arsenal.

Christian Benteke: After an exciting debut season at Aston Villa, Benteke has no short of admirers at the moment including Arsenal. Will the Gunners take this interest to something concrete?

Alexandre Pato: The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Tottenham recently, and although his quality was never a doubt, fitness could be an issue.

Jackson Martinez: The Colombian striker has scored 9 goals already this season and has recently hinted of a possible move elsewhere. Arsenal were interested in him before and certainly could tempt Porto with a big money offer.

Karim Benzema: The Frenchman was a reported target of Arsenal in the summer transfer window and Wenger may try for a big money move for the Real Madrid star.

Robert Lewandowski: The Borussia Dortmund star is rumoured to be Bayern- bound, but we don’t know yet whether there is any deal in place or not. So, before he becomes a free agent and moves to somewhere else, why not pay a hefty fee now and snatch one of the top strikers in Europe in winter?

Kevin Volland: The 21-year-old Hoffenheim star has already scored five goals in 11 league games and in a transfer target of Dortmund. He is rated very highly in Germany and could be an exciting prospect.

Konstantinos Mitroglou: The Greek star is a target of Liverpool and Arsenal, has scored 14 goals in 10 matches so far and is attracting interests from other European heavyweights as well.
