The 28-year-old joined the Gunners from Malaga and has had a sparkling debut season, where he scored 12 goals and bagged 16 assists, helping his side finish in top four, ahead of their North London rivals Tottenham.

The Rojiblancos tried to sign the midfielder last summer and will rekindle their interest again, with reports surfacing last month that Miguel Angel Gil, the president of Atletico was in London to negotiate a deal, reported in the figure of £17.5 million; while Spanish tabloids suggested that Cazorla had already agreed a personal terms.

The Spanish international insisted that he was very happy with the life in London and has played down all speculations surrounding his future at Arsenal, as quoted in the Daily Mail:

“Much has been made the subject of Atletico Madrid, but I am very good in London. I have a contract with Arsenal and I start training on Monday. We’ll see when I come back to La Liga – it is very difficult right now.”

Atletico Madrid have no shortage of funds at the moment having sold star striker Radamel Falcao to AS Monaco for  £50 million are keen to re-invest. The capital club have already netted Spanish striker David Villa and Cazorla expressed his happiness for his national team-mate saying he can enjoy the football again, after having a turbulent season at Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking to exploit the unsettled condition of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and are preparing to lodge a third and final bid for the Uruguayan. Liverpool have rejected two previous offers from the Gunners, with the Reds unwilling to sell their prized asset to any rival clubs of the Premier League.
