Arsenal are plotting an audacious move for Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler, as Arsene Wenger looking to give a different dimension to his attacking unit.

The 20-year-old is not a new name to Arsenal fans or any football fans for that matter. He is one of Germany’s brightest young prospects and has been heavily linked with the Gunners for quite some time now.

Draxler has said good words about Arsenal on few occasions in the past while admitted he regularly keeps in touch with German players at the Gunners camp.

According to reports from John Cross of The Mirror, who has a great connection with the club, Arsenal are trying to conclude a £35m deal (which is his buy-out clause) for Draxler, and there is a high chance the player will arrive at North London this month to strengthen Gunners’ challenge for the Premier League title.

Draxler is primarily an attacking midfielder, who can play an either flanks. He is fast, skillful, intelligent and possesses great vision as well. It is thought that Wenger wants to transform him into a lethal striker ala Robin van Persie.

Van Persie when joined the Gunners, started as wide player but Wenger transformed him into an out-an-out goal scorer, and rest is history now.

Arsenal were also linked with few strikers like Alvaro Morata of Real Madrid, but it seems Wenger doesn’t want to buy someone just for the sake of it. Draxler’s primary role would be to play alongside Olivier Giroud rather than to replace him.
