Pepe Reina is still a Liverpool player in theory, but his future surely lies elsewhere after the end of the season. Either he could sign with Napoli on a permanent basis or his possible destination could be Barcelona next summer.

If the reports from the Spanish press are to be believed, then Barcelona have an upper-hand in signing him, as they already have a preliminary agreement with the player. Victor Valdes is set to leave the club after the end of the season and Barcelona want their former player to rejoin again.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are not the only one interested in signing him, but the Catalan club face a strong competition from several European clubs and of them is Premier League giants Arsenal.

The Gunners have a long standing interest in Reina and Arsene Wenger even placed a £20m bid for him back in 2010. Reina was linked with a move to Arsenal again this summer, after Liverpool signed Simon Mignolet from Sunderland.

Arsenal have a more than able goal keeper in Wojciech Szczesny, who has been simply terrific this season, but Wenger probably feels the need to add more competition for that spot. La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid are equally interested in signing him, as the Rojiblancos consider him as a potential option to replace Belgium keeper Thibaut Courtois.
