Antonio Conte ready to let John Terry leave in January

John Terry has been linked with a move away from Chelsea once again. The Chelsea legend has been struggling with injuries lately and has not featured for the Blues much this season.

According to latest reports from the Italian media, Antonio Conte has apparently given the green light regarding Terry’s sale in January. The defender’s current contract expires in the summer, and he could be moved before the end of the season.

Chelsea has an interest in PSG centre-back Thiago Silva, so they will be looking to get rid of Terry in exchange. Conte sees the Brazilian as a major upgrade, and a necessary signing as opposed to Terry, who is considered as a fringe player now.

Any club wanting to replace Terry with Thiago Silva makes complete sense, but it is highly unlikely that Chelsea will be able to sign the South American this winter. PSG are struggling in the title race and will be reluctant to let go of their best defender in the middle of the season.

Thiago Silva has been linked with a move away from PSG for a while now. The defender’s current deal at the French capital expires at the end of this season, and there are no signs of a renewal.

Terry has been linked with a move to China recently. At this stage of his career, a move to MLS or China makes perfect sense for him. However, it would be utter lunacy to let him go without signing a replacement first.

Chelsea only have Luiz and Cahill as their first choice centre-backs, and Kurt Zouma is yet to return to first-team action following his injury recovery. Therefore, Conte cannot afford to sell someone as experienced as Terry…yet. Furthermore, Terry has won everything at club level, and his experience could prove to be vital in the title race.
